When prostate cancer is advanced (aPC), outcomes

  • Discrimination due to race or ethnicity
  • Age-related biases
  • Low socioeconomic status

  • Rural settings and areas with limited health resources

HEALTH INEQUITIES DIMINISH THE IMPACT OF TREATMENT AND MAY LEAD TO POORER OUTCOMES FOR MANY PEOPLE LIVING WITH aPC.

Low-income men are
UNDERDIAGNOSED and FACE HIGHER MORTALITY from aPC worldwide.
Men in rural and disadvantaged areas are MORE LIKELY TO BE DIAGNOSED WITH AND DIE  from aPC.
Black men in the United States are 2.5X MORE LIKELY to die of prostate cancer than white men.  
Gay or bisexual men living with prostate cancer in the United States reported a WORSE QUALITY OF LIFE compared with straight men living with prostate cancer.
